Module 4: You Can’t Do It All: Growing a Church of Leaders

You can’t and shouldn’t be the church on your own.  Redefine leadership to grow a church of leaders.  Use your power and authority to create the conditions for others to emerge into leadership in your community. Help create the structure for strong leaders by tapping into the gifts of your community and bringing them to bear to help your community flourish.

A video, handouts, and a short article, as well as exercises to apply what you’ve learned.

How much time should I set aside for this module?

There are approximately 30-45 minutes of content and 4 hours of exercises that facilitate the application of content

What exercises are in this module?

Apply this content through reflections on your own leadership, engaging others for feedback, and utilizing a spiritual gifts inventory. There’s also an opportunity for a graded reflection on your leadership and building your church’s leadership team.

 

Module 5: The Good Fight: Healthy Conflict Management

Conflict is inevitable, how we manage change is not. In every church system we will face conflict.  Eventually in a new church the honeymoon period will subside and the humanity of all those gathered will be evident. Equip yourself with the right tools to ensure that the management of conflict is done in healthy and transformative ways. Be conscious about creating safe and positive communication that bears fruit in your ministry.

Short videos, short articles, and a blog reading.

How much time should I set aside for this module?

There is approximately 1 hour of essential content, 1.5 hours of bonus material, and 10 hours of exercises that facilitate the application of content.

What exercises are in this module?

Apply this content through management of internal reactions, intentional creation of safe communication, and stretching your approach to conflict.  There’s also an opportunity for a graded reflection on how you engage conflict and what you imagine doing differently to strengthen your community in the face of conflict.

 

Module 6: The Leadership Handoff: Transition to the Next Generation of Leaders

New churches strive to create sustainable systems. True sustainability requires a transition of leadership. Intentional, humble, and forward-looking choices is a gift to the community you are creating.  The community you are creating is not about you.  It is about God!  Set the stage today for the future transition that will be the hallmark of your sustainable system by honing your skills for leadership transition.

There are approximately 1.5 hours of content and 3 hours of exercises that facilitate the application of content.

What exercises are in this module?

Apply this content through examining what practices will support your transition in the future and where you need to change to set the stage for the future health of your congregation.  There’s also an opportunity for graded reflection on intentional planning for the future transition for you and your leadership team.
