| The Social Media for Ministry 1.0, a new five week online learning opportunity from the Center for Progressive Renewal, It was created to train and equip students in the basics of using social media as part of their overall approach to ministry. Led by nationally recognized social media for ministry expert, Kimberly Knight, and offered exclusively through CPR, Social Media 1.0, will offer participants the unique opportunity to gain essential skills for ministry in the 21st century. In this intense introduction to Social media for ministry participants will:
* Gain a comprehensive overview of social media * Explore the praxis of social media for ministry * Articulate role of social media in overall communication strategy * Learn about best practices for facebook, twitter and blogging
The class will begin on Wednesday January 25 at 1:30 p.m., with a video conference call. There will be live inter-action every Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. Eastern time but these will be recorded so that you can still take the course if you have Wednesday afternoon conflicts. Kimberly Knight received her Master of Divinity from Candler School of Theology at Emory University. She graduated from Georgia State University with a BA in Religious Studies. She has more than 15 years of experience across a broad spectrum of technology settings including multimedia production and instructional technology. She currently serves as the pastor of an online congregation that has been gathering for nearly four years in the cyber-world of Second Life. Kimberly, her partner, and their two children are active members of Kirkwood United Church of Christ in Atlanta, Georgia.
