Do you have an idea for a book, but you haven’t had the space to focus on it? Could you use some input and advice as you write? Contrary to popular notions, writing does not have to be a solitary event. It can be easier when you work with a group. In this cohort, Carol Howard Merritt will give you the practical advice and tools that you need to get your ideas on to the page, as well as on-going support as you think about pitching and marketing.

In addition to the five One-to-One Coaching Sessions:

GROUP SESSION #1 Sharpening focus

Whether writing non-fiction or memoir, your work needs to have a well-defined point. In our first coaching session, we’ll talk about how to form and sharpen the focus of your project. Then we will discuss how to map out your book.

GROUP SESSION #2 Overcoming obstacles

In our second session, we will talk about common blocks in the writing process and how to overcome them. We will learn practical skills that will keep you writing even when everything seems to be working against you.

GROUP SESSION #3 Beyond the SFD

Anne Lamott teaches us about the importance of the First Draft. In our third session, we will talk about what to do after we get that part down. What tools should we use to rewrite and edit?
